How do you know that number is true though?

That people are tired of paying for cable and want to watch WHAT they want to watch WHEN they want to watch it.

That; (A) people need to unplug, and; (B) people watch lots of movies.

To me, both of these points reveal a problem with reality.

I enjoy reading -- mostly rubbish -- which probably says something about my sense of reality, too. I'm not sure it's a problem, though. >:-)

I read quite a bit as well, Didge. My appetite for nonfiction perhaps betrays an obsession with reality.

Not a lot.

I got my first computer back in the DOS days when you had to be fairly enthusiastic to make the things perform. YouTube, FaceBook and the Internet were still far in the future.  Even then I was surprised by the number of people who used their computers solely for games and entertainment.

What we're seeing now is an extension of that. Home entertainment. And we probably all dip into it in our own way. I rarely watch a movie on the Net and don't spend much time watching videos, but I haven't been to a chess club or a tournament since 2007. It's so convenient to sit at home and pull opponents from a pool numbering many thousands.

Entertainment -- in whatever form -- is a gigantic part of the Internet. If we learn something along the way, that's a bonus.
