Many disadvantages from what I hear... I'm a mac user nowadays, but I used Windows machines until I was in my twenties, and back then it seemed like Windows had a much larger market share than it enjoys now.
From my experience with the Windows XP and Windows 8 and 9 OS, I found that some of the user experience was a little confusing, that they were more susceptible to bugs and viruses, and that many sites didn't render properly in the default browser - IE.
On the other hand, Windows does seem to allow you a lot more control over how you setup and run your machine. And one of my favorite music editing software packages, FL Studio, is only available on Windows - so there's 2 advantages to take to the bank!
