1. Just go to Need Help and click there.

2. Click on I don't know my password and put your email address in the box shown to you.

If you have forgotten your Gmail password but you know all of your other account details (the ones you used when you signed up) then it is relatively straightforward for you to get access back to your emails.

When you're on the Gmail sign in page click on "Need Help" under the sign in link.

This will take you to a page that presents you with three options:

  • I don't know my password
  • I don't know my username
  • I'm having other problems signing in

Select the first option relating to password, and you'll be prompted to enter your email address. From there, just continue to follow the onscreen prompts. You'll be asked to verify who you are by allowing a verification code to be sent to your phone, or receiving an automated phone call, after which you'll be able to reset your password.

Remember when choosing a new password:

  • Choose something which is memorable, but only to you
  • Try to include upper and lower case letters, along with numbers and other symbols to keep your account secure.

Sometimes I like to choose a difficult password, then make a note of it in my phone incase I forget- but I'll hide it among some other nonsense, say in my draft text messages. Sounds like extreme lengths, but it's always better to have a stronger password, and I guarantee once you've looked it up a few times you'll remember it in future, because it's a pain!
