I was reading one of Michael Connelly's stories and came across a reference to the North Hollywood shoot-out of 1997.

It made interesting reading.

I watched that live on T.V. That was one of the craziest things had watched on T.V. Right up there with the riots and eventually 9/11. To see the LAPD out gunned was shocking. Unfortunately it being live we also got to see their demise also. Very very bloody day in L.A. I had heard there were changes within the LAPD because of that day. I have never verified what those changes were.

At first I thought it was just part of Connelly's story but when I Googled it I was able to get both the story and some video. (I didn't watch much of it.)
Connelly also said there were changes to the LAPD weaponry as a result of that shoot-out. Lots of people wounded but only the bad guys were killed. That's something, at least.

Yes, it was a nail biter. Hard to believe that that much gunfire happened and no one was killed. It was also my understanding that the gunmen had come from my neck of the woods and they were my age. I noticed changes. But never knew exactly what they were. I had heard that their standard issue weapon changed. I think something also changed with the public accessing military grade protective gear and access or control over hollow point bullets.

I've been out of school all week, so nothing school related! Yay! :D The last thing I Googled was something about night terrors. I used to get them, and more recently, my 5 year old sister has.
