I was just wondering if it is at all possible for telephone service providers to retrieve and print out past text messages that have been sent between mine and other mobile devices?

Yes, it is possible for the cell phone company to print out your text message records (which is a slightly worrying thought actually!).

If you need them to do this for you just call them and ask. You will need to provide them with all your details including your passcode. Some cell phone companies will send the printout to you by fax.

Sometimes a cell phone company will refuse to co-operate for whatever reason. If this is the case, you can get a subpoena if you have a valid reason for needing to view the records.

Just contact the court and tell them your reasons for the subpoena, but be aware that the court can also refuse if your reasons don't seem important enough to them.

If the court does refuse you, you have a right to go to a lawyer who may be able to help with a subpoena appeal.

Some cell phone companies allow you to print copies of your cell record from your online account too, though I've tried this on mine, and the only information mine gives is time, date and number the text was sent to.

Yours may be different though, so it is worth checking!
