The previous answer will not get rid of the virus. Go to Google and type in "how to delete folder.exe virus" and click on the first two links (or more if you find one easier to understand).

After cleaning the virus, and if you haven't already, download "spybot-search & destroy" from Lavasoft - it's free. Make sure you're downloading the "search and destroy" version as there are copycat sites that don't work as well. One is called "spywarebot". I use www.pcworld.com a lot as I trust their downloads.

Then it wouldn't hurt to download "Ad-aware" which is also free. I try to remember to run the Spybot and Ad-aware at least once a week but usually end up running it when my machine has slowed down or the images are acting up.

And of course, have an antivirus enabled all the time. AVG antivirus is a good free one, and Avast (I believe it's free too).

Go to start menu, then search then "for files and folders"

search these files and folders.
When the search is finished, you will find the exact location of these files. Don't go to that, just delete the files on search window. And eventually delete them from recycle bin. That's it. The viruses are removed. However, you need an antivirus to scan and delete all your virus from the computer.

Remove folder.exe error manually

You could try to remove folder.exe manually, which might be performed
by some experienced computer users. The manual folder.exe removal can
be done by
1. Deleting all folder.exe related processes (all malicious EXE files);

2. Erasing any associated EXE files (Dynamic Link Library);

3. Removing any .lnk files associated with the virus;

4. Entering the registry via the regedit command, finding and removing
dangerous files in the following directories HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Removing folder.exe error manually is not easy, and if something what
you’ve done is wrong, you may make it even worse and waste more time.
So the manual folder.exe removal is dangerous and not recommended.

Good Morning 'Guest'; More idea's. First update your computer (if you are windows based the MS update site is best) then update your McAfee antiVirus program and run a full scan ( A full scan may take hours, but must be done). Do these things even if you have done before. There are a few sites that can be trusted (only a few) When I have these problems I use the one that is on this link -
www.safer-networking.org Go to this site and down load the FREE antivirus program and run it, you may have to turn off your McAfee to install and run it. Restart your computer and run it again. If the problem is still there, go to the site again find thier 'forum's' and read, read a lot. Know what you are going to ask and how to ask it. Do everything they ask you to do before you post your question. These guys work for free so try to have all of your ducks lined up before you involve the forum. Good Luck and keep us posted, Please.

One method you can try is by downloading an antivirus software. I would recommend using the antivirus to do a full scan of your computer and remove all malicious files. I am currently using Baidu Antivirus and I've had no problems.
