There could be multiple answers for this. You remote might be out of battery for instance. Charging the batteries at the wrong time after replacing them will drain the batteries drastically. Also, your remote might not be synced to your console. If you look near the batteries, there should be a small red sync button. Press this, and press the one on your console at around the same time to sync them. You might also need to check that you have your sensor set up correctly. Some wii remotes will freeze, too. I've found that holding down the A and B buttons at the same time or holding the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time will unfreeze the remote. Hope I helped.
