Quartz Infrared heater consist of a quartz heating element which is similar in functioning like a light bulb. But they are optimised to produce as much infra-red as possible, and less light. Quartz Infrared Heaters are not recommended for Home heating purposes. This is because they have a higher fire potential as they radiate to function. They are good for workshops, garages, barns etc as they portray an effect that is similar to standing near a bonfire. They have no thermostat function.

Manufacturers EdenPure and ComfortZone state they will NOT cause fires; are not 'hot' to the touch - children/pets will NOT be burned; have thermostats; and offer remote starters, time delayed start, 1 to 3 year warranty. Could this now be newer technology? Is this all true?

I own one and it is not hot to the touch, it can not cause a fire and it has a thermostat. It works well in a closed room. It will save you money if you only need to heat one room and you lower the temperature for the rest of the home. It will not work for the whole house.
