Most cars after 1991 have on board diagnostic computers. If you take it to a shop they'll charge you- hopefully minimally if that's all you need- to reset the computer. You can also purchase the device they use at the shop to diagnose your own car problems but I couldn't tell you just how that works.

Yes that will sometimes work after the internal memory has been erased , Walmart sells a reset key for alot of the older cars.

See buick dealer workshop, they have the equipment to fix it.

I'm having the same problem The diagnostic code said either the gas cap or some other issue. I have disconnected the battery and that did not work. I also replaced the gas cap. It also didn't work. I have no clue how to stop it either. Let me know if you get an answer
