If there are no presets in place, when you turn on your scanner it will just start scanning, showing all presets as "000.000". There are 10 available, 0-9. To enter a frequency, stop the auto-scanning by pressing the "MANUAL" button. This button keeps the scanner locked on a particular preset number. You can continue to push the "MANUAL" button to scroll through each individual preset, if you want certain channels set to certain preset numbers. For example, if you stop the scanning at preset 7, and you wish to start your entries at preset 1, you may press the "MANUAL" button as many times as necessary to reach preset 1. You can also use "MANUAL" this way once the presets are in place, to listen to one particular frequency when you wish. To leave the manual scanning mode, simply press the "SCAN" button. This will return you to auto-scan mode.
Once you are on the preferred preset, press the "PROGRAM" button. A dash will appear in front of the preset number (replacing the "M" which indicates manual scanning mode). At this point, press the correct numbers to enter the frequency you choose, including the decimal point in the correct place. Once the number is entered correctly, press the "ENTER" button. The display will not change at this point, and will still show the dash in front of the preset number. To move to the next preset, press the "MANUAL" button twice- once to get back into manual scanning mode (the "M" will return), and a second time to move to the next preset number. Repeat this process for each preset you wish to use.
Please note that each time the scanner is powered on, it will revert to auto-scanning of all preset channels.
