How To Find My Serial Code For Sims 3 If I Lost My Booklet?

If you have already loaded Sims 3 on your computer before you lost the booklet then there is a way to retrieve the serial code. However, if you lost the booklet before you could install the game then, unfortunately, there is not a lot you can do apart from purchasing the game again.

There are other Sims 3 serial codes floating about the Internet but most would not work and it is illegal to use them if you did not purchase the game the code has been taken from.

If you have loaded it on the computer previously then you will be able to access the serial code back by following a few simple steps. The EA games website gives you the following directions for retrieving your code:

- Click on Start and then click on Run.
- In the text line type regedit, then click OK.
- Click on the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Click on the + next to SOFTWARE
- Click on the + next to Electronic Arts
- Click on the + next to EA Games
- Click on the + next to Sims 2 or expansion(s) you want the code for
- Click on ergc

In the right-hand pane you will see your serial code for that game/pack.

If you don't actually have Sims 3 installed on your computer anymore but have registered it, then you are best heading to the EA games website and signing into your account. There you will be able to find your serial number for all your EA games.

I am using Windows 7.  I already have the game installed on my laptop, and wanted to install it also on our family desktop computer but lost my booklet with registration code - here's how I found it:
Start -> Run -> regedit
Navigate to:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Electronic Arts -> Sims -> The Sims 3 -> ergc
The registration code will be listed there on the right under
Name: Default,
Type: REG_SZ,
Data: (serial code will be long string of 20 characters)

Ok so this is the easiest way I found out how to look for the code. It took me almost an hour just to look this simple way so your welcome. Anyways, just do those first steps the others keep saying START>RUN>type 'REGEDIT then once at the registry editor click on the EDIT tab>FIND>type 'ERGC'. That should show you the code on the right hand side under the data column. Quick and simple. Good luck everyone!!

This was posted earlier and worked, except I clicked on "Sims" after EA Games since Sims 2 actually had my Sims 2 thing!

I did it and it worked! I followed what that one guy said about the regedit but had to click around in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE area it worked for my ambition even though I uninstalled it before I thought to look there.

Although it wasn't where the thread said it was exactly, if you just look around in that registry for a few minutes you'll find it! Thank you SOOO much!

I suggest calling EA's customer Service with your proof of purchase handy. No need fooling around where you don't belong on your computer.

If you're on Windows:

Start Menu > Run > Type "regedit" > hit OK > Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Electronic Arts > Sims > Sims 3 > ergc > under "Data" in the column that shows up, your key should be listed.

DO NOT edit or change ANYTHING in those files, as you could mess up your computer.
